I can not stress how important it is to maintain your grade around your house. The source of foundation damages and your basement water leaks are caused by improper drainage in your yard. Downspouts need to be either connected underground and directed away from your house, or simply by extensions. Go to your landscaping supply store and have them deliver their dense top soil to add around your foundation walls, compact it and create a slope away from your foundation . Clean your gutters twice to three times a year. Increase the size of your gutters to 6".
