Interior Perimeter Drainage System

Detailed Floor Drain

Here a proper sized, below floor drainage system also called a Hydrostatic Pressure Relief System is shown just prior to cementing the system back up. A 12” deep trench lined with crushed stone with a perforated NDS pipe laid in the center of the trench is topped with more crushed stone and then a dimpled drain board. The drain board is folded up the wall and serves as a vapor barrier to prevent moisture in the drain system from wicking up through the cement as well as a way for water to reach the system in the event there is any penetration from the wall above. This system is connected to an automatically operating sump pump which removes the water to the outside of the home.

Interior Drainage & Waterproofing

A system designed around interior drainage is the least disruptive method of foundation waterproofing. An interior drainage & waterproofing system effectively addresses the forces of hydrostatic pressure, which is the pressure of groundwater forcing its way through the basement walls.

The interior perimeter of the concrete floor is jackhammered and drainage piping is installed, routing water that enters the basement to a sump pump system that actively removes the water. A backup battery-operated sump pump is often recommended to prevent flooding of the basement during a power outage.  Finished look of an interior basement waterproofing system. Hydra channel installed under the new concrete to channel water to the drain. Dimple board channel wall system to catch any water from future leaks if any to the floor drain. This is a full proof basement waterproofing system to use before you finish your basement.
